Volunteer Stories: Carole

Carole, Fleet Operations volunteer.

I was supposed to be helping the transport team this summer as part of UEFA Euro 2020.

I usually volunteer one day a week with Fareshare Glasgow and West Central Scotland Food depot in Glasgow. 

We take surplus food from supermarkets and redistribute to not for profit organisations. We also provide free sanitary products to alleviate period poverty.

I am currently volunteering 5 days a week doing admin, helping in the warehouse, making up orders and sometimes delivering to far-flung projects.

We are nearly all volunteers and have been managing to turn out over 11 tonnes of food per day while accepting up to 30 deliveries.
