UEFA EURO 2020

11 June – 11 July 2021

Hosted at Hampden Park, Glasgow
14, 18, 22, 29 June 2021

Wednesday 12 June marks one year to go until the first whistle of UEFA EURO 2020 and also sees the official launch of the ticket application window at euro2020.com/tickets. Fans across Europe can apply for tickets to games in each of the 12 host cities, including Glasgow, with applications open for a month until 12 July 2019.

Scottish footballing legend John Collins, who was part of the last Scottish squad to play at a European Championships in 1996, was at the national stadium to help celebrate the milestone.

Collins, who featured in all of Scotland’s three matches at Euro 96, before scoring a famous goal against Brazil at the FIFA World Cup two years later, encouraged the Scottish public to get involved in what’s set to be a historic tournament:

This is the largest football event ever to come to Scotland and it could be a once in a lifetime chance to see some of the biggest names in world football, right on our doorstep. Regardless of whether Scotland qualify, we’ll be treated to a carnival atmosphere across not only Glasgow, and Scotland, but across Europe so I’d encourage everyone to get involved and submit their applications during the ticket window.

John Collins

With 51 matches taking place across 12 nations for the first time ever, this EURO will be closer than ever to the fans. Hampden Park will host 3 group matches (15, 19, 23 June 2020) which will include two home games for Scotland if they qualify, and a round of 16 match (30 June).

The opening game will be played in Rome’s Stadio Olympico on Friday 12 June 2020, while Wembley Stadium will host the two semi-finals and final, with the new European Champions crowned on Sunday 12 July 2020.

As Glasgow prepares to add another jewel to its event crown, the city will be in festival mode as football fans from both home and abroad celebrate this special tournament. Fan zones are expected to welcome thousands to enjoy outdoor entertainment, guaranteeing a spectacular and accessible experience for fans, families and visitors alike.

The event is further proof of Glasgow’s standing as a global centre for top class sporting events, with the city named as one of the world’s top five Ultimate Sports Cities in April 2018.
